DISCIPLES IN MISSION

"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations..." -- Matthew 28:19

Disiples in Mission is a way to experience what Jesus' first disciples experienced by listening to his words, reflecting on them and sharing their insights with each other. In 1999, our parish was called to respond to "the Call to Holiness" by participating in small faith sharing groups. Nearly 100 parishioners participated during the first year. Roughly one half of those participants decided to continue to meet throughout the year because of the tremendous personal and spiritual benefits they experienced participating in the small groups.

What is a Faith Sharing Group? A faith sharing group is simply a group of people gathered together to reflect on the Lectionary readings for the following Sunday. Group members are invited to share the ways in which the Word of God impacts their faith and life in a setting of warmth, hospitality and confidentiality.

Objective - Disciples in Mission challenges us to go beyond ourselves and to take our faith to others. We must stretch our comfort levels for the sake of Christ, and warmly and lovingly invite those who have experienced alienation and hurt in their relationship with Christ and his Church and those who are inactive in the practice of their faith to return to our caring and welcoming community.

Give yourself a Gift! If you are active in practicing your faith, but still feel as though something is missing - Disciples in Mission is for you. Continue to pray for discernment and then sign up for this Lenten program that will change your outlook on life and deepen your faith with the Lord.
